  95. The series name, "DosEA," is a play on words which means
  96. a dossier on DOS.

  98. But, what is it?

  100. Specifically, DosEA is a series of hypertext programs
  101. which explain DOS.  The series, so far, consists of . . .

  105.   DosEA 3 -- 10 Easy Commands
  106.   DosEA 4 -- Find That Command!

  110. A key element in the presentation of the DosEA series is
  111. hypertext.  Once you get the idea behind hypertext, you
  112. can read and comprehend material extremely fast.
  113. Hypertext lets you select just what you want to read.  If
  114. you understand what you are reading, just keep at it.
  115. Otherwise, the hypertext leads you immediately to further
  116. explanations.

  118. Understanding hypertext is so crucial to the DosEA series,
  119. that the first program, "For Absolute Beginners," is all
  120. about how to use hypertext.  Even though the DosEA series
  121. is about DOS, the first program isn't about DOS, at all.
  122. Rather, it's about using hypertext.

  124. The second program in the series, "What is DOS?", then
  125. uses hypertext to introduce DOS.  This and the succeeding
  126. programs in the series also use hypertext to explain
  127. further details about DOS.

  173. "DosEA 4 -- Find That Command!" is a utility which helps
  174. the user determine which DOS commands can perform certain
  175. tasks.

  177. The user does this by pressing <F1> to get an index.
  178. Then, the user selects a word in the index that has
  179. something to do with the task which needs to be done.
  180.  
  181. The program then either lists commands which perform this
  182. task or else offers further explanations to narrow the
  183. search.

  185. The program does not explain how to use the commands, but
  186. rather is a "compass" which points the user in the right
  187. direction to get things done.

  212. You should already know about hypertext before you use
  213. DosEA 4.  If you need a hypertext tutorial, one is
  214. provided with DosEA 1, which you can get with the order
  215. form in the ORDERFRM.TXT file.

  217. What follows is a brief tutorial on how to use DosEA 4
  218. to find a command.  It is assumed that DosEA 4 is located
  219. on a disk in the "A" disk drive.
  220.  
  221. Goal:  You have been reading about DOS and have come
  222. across something called the "DOS environment."  You want
  223. to learn more about this "DOS environment," and you wonder
  224. if any DOS commands have anything to do with it.
  225.  
  226. Solution:  The solution is a series of numbered steps.
  227.  
  228. 1.  Make the "A" disk drive the default.
  229.  
  230.   Enter:  A:

  232. 2.  Start the program.
